Ripley St Thomas Church of England Academy
Ripley is a large school situated in beautiful grounds in the city of Lancaster. The school has a long and proud tradition, having been established as the gift of Thomas and Julia Ripley in 1864. Their spirit of adventure, philanthropy and faith is still at the core of what we do and what we offer today, over 150 years later.
Ripley St Thomas is a Voluntary-Aided comprehensive Church of England Academy opened in 1864, now with over 1700 pupils aged 11-18 on roll. Of these, approximately 380 are in the Sixth Form. The school admits 270 pupils each September. We exist to provide the best educational opportunities we can for the young people and families we are privileged to serve. At Ripley, we aim to combine our rich tradition with innovation in order to develop our young people in body, mind and spirit and equip them to be responsible members of society who will make a real difference in this world.
Longridge High School
We are a thriving, happy and successful high school set in the heart of the beautiful Ribble Valley. We are passionate about and committed to the belief that every young person deserves an excellent education, expressed in our shared vision ‘Excellence and ambition, from all, for all.’
We enjoy a close knit and friendly school community, which aims to unlock the potential in all our pupils, challenging them to achieve excellent academic standards, and developing in them the self- belief they need to mature into responsible young adults.
We provide excellent all round learning experiences for every pupil, allowing them to thrive and develop in a supportive and secure environment, where they can enjoy, aspire and achieve, and where they feel valued.
We work closely with families to support pupils through their transition to high school, through their high school years and to ensure excellent post-16 progression.

The Trust was set up by Ripley St Thomas Church of England Academy in 2017. Ripley is a large Academy with over 1700 students, 400 of whom are in the Sixth Form. The Academy has been graded “Outstanding” in its last two Ofsted inspections. Ripley has its own SCITT (School Centred Initial Teaching Training), which was also graded “Outstanding” in 2017 and again in 2023.

A message from our CEO, Sally Kenyon
Welcome to The Bay Learning Trust.
We are a mixed Multi Academy Trust and include faith and no-faith schools. We aim for all of our pupils to live life in all its fullness so they can flourish spiritually, academically and personally. We serve many rich and diverse communities. Through our work, we are privileged to make a significant contribution to the education of children and young people in our local area. Our priority is to provide the very best education that we can in all our schools to give the best life chances to our pupils. Moreover, we want to develop well-rounded and considerate students who will contribute to their local communities and make a positive difference.
We are proud to be a welcoming and inclusive Trust. Our schools are aligned in their expectations for our pupils but we are in no way uniform. We value individual school’s rich traditions, values and identities.
